Over the years, there have been many fashion brands that have come and gone, but still the classics have demonstrated resilience and stamina to last the decade with millions of followers and fans showcasing their admiration to Chanel, Prada, Dior and many more.
Here’s a few of The Gift Edit favourites and some interesting biographies about their life and journey.
Chanel
Born in 1883 in France, fashion designer Coco Chanel is famous for her timeless designs, trademark suits and little black dresses. Chanel was raised in an orphanage and taught to sew. She had a brief career as a singer before opening her first clothes shop in 1910. A brave adventure for a young woman in those days. Following her clothing store launch, she introduced her first perfume in 1920s and the original Chanel suit that became popular with women for being stylish and comfortable.
Prada
Miuccia Prada is an Italian fashion designer best known as the head of Prada, a fashion powerhouse that specialises in luxury goods for men and women. Fashion designer Miuccia Prada was born in 1949, in Milan, Italy. Once a member of the Italian Communist Party and a mime student, Prada was an unlikely entrepreneur when she took over her family’s luggage business in 1978. She first dazzled the fashion world in 1985 with a series of sought after black nylon handbags and backpacks.
Dior
Christian Dior was a French fashion designer whose creations are wildly popular, and whose legacy continues to influence the fashion industry. Christian Dior was born in northern France in 1905. His resulting success, based on the innovation of both his designs and his business practices, made him the most successful fashion designer in the world. His designs have been worn by film stars and royalty alike, and his company continues to operate at the forefront of the fashion industry.
